Biography

Brittany Cohen earned her Master’s in Dance Education and K-12 NJ teaching certification from  the Gradute School of Education at Rutgers University in 2016. She graduated Cum Laude from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, receiving a BFA in Dance Performace as well as a minor in Psychology in 2015. Brittany completed a 200-Hour Vinyasa Yoga Registered Teacher Training and Certification via the OM Factory Yoga Center, NYC, at Rutgers University.


Brittany is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars Rutgers Chapter, The National Honors Society for Dance Arts, and was a founding board member of the National Dance Educators Organization at Rutgers University. 


She completed a full-time teaching internship in an urban New Jersey high school dance classroom as well as practicum placements in New Jersey elementary and middle schools in her time as a graduate student. She also co-taught dance in an afterschool Creative Arts Recreation and Enrichment program in central New Jersey.


She has choreographed for the Spotswood School district’s Drama Clubs’ performances of The Music Man, Grease, Horton Hears a Who, and Aida, to name a few. She is currently expanding her choreographic experiences into other school districts in central NJ. 


Brittany has spent her life studying and performing dance. Her goals include advocating for the importance of dance and dance education in the lives of children and helping dancers maintain their wellness. She has been studying injuries and safe pedagogical practices for dance educators during her collegiate journey. Brittany has co-presented her discoveries about dance injuries and injury prevention in education in workshops for both dance educators and dance students. She hopes to guide dancers to understand their bodies and the way they move in order to achieve healthy and fulfilled lives.
